New epidemic: After Divya Bhaskar's report, Gujarat government declared Mukarmycosis an epidemic, more than 1200 cases so far

Along with Gujarat and Rajasthan, cases of Mukarmacosis are also increasing in Bhopal and Haryana

In Ahmedabad alone, around 500 patients with mucomycosis have been admitted

In civil, surgery is performed daily on 20 to 25 patients with mucorrhoea

The second wave of corona in the state has shaken people. The number of new patients is constantly increasing as well as the number of patients suffering from other diseases after coronary heart disease. At present, the biggest problem after Gujarat corona is mucorrhoea. DivyaBhaskar has declared Rajasthan an epidemic of mucorrhoea in only 200 cases on the morning of the 20th, so when will the Gujarat government publish it? In the evening following the report, the state government declared Mukar mycosis an epidemic.

A detailed discussion on the epidemic was held at a meeting of the core committee chaired by Chief Minister Rupani. During the discussions at the core committee meeting, it was stated that the disease has been declared an epidemic under the Epidemic Diseases Act, 1857. In this regard, government and private hospitals and medical colleges treating the disease will now have to follow the guidelines laid down by the Department of Health, Government of India as well as the ICMR for screening diagnosis and treatment. Details of suspected as well as confirmed cases of this disease should be sent to the Government of India from time to time.

Around 1200 patients admitted in 4 major cities

Cases of mucomycosis are on the rise in Rajasthan, which has seen the government put the disease under the epidemic as part of security measures. However, if we talk about Gujarat, there are more than 1200 cases of mucormycosis in the civil of 4 big cities and some parts are removed by surgery of 20 to 25 people daily. Yet the government has not yet made a proper decision on the disease. On the other hand, there is a debate among the people as to when the government will consider the disease under epidemic if the number of patients with mucorrhoea is increasing.

8 wards for patients with mucomycosis in civil

There are around 500 cases in Asarwa Civil of Ahmedabad. The ENT building in Civil has 8 wards for patients with mucomycosis, of which 6 wards have pre-operative wards, two post-operative wards, as well as 5 operation theater wards for patients' surgery. On the other hand, more than 70 patients are admitted in the dental hospital, while around 30 patients are admitted in 1200 beds. Every day more than 15 patients are discharged from mucorrhoea.

500 in Ahmedabad and 400 in Rajkot

Approximately 125 patients with mucorrhoea have been operated on in the last decade alone, with fortunately the number of patients dying from the disease is currently very low, but the number of new patients is increasing. A total of 1100 cases have been reported in the state so far, of which 500 are in Ahmedabad, 400 in Rajkot, 260 in Vadodara and around 114 in Surat.

Cases of mucomacosis increased from cities to villages

Mucormacosis is slowly spreading to the villages along with the cities of the state, which has led to shortage of medicines for the disease in Gujarat, which is suspected to be due to hoarding and black marketing, so the sale of medicines for the disease is also likely to be curtailed. This is because the Delhi government has strictly banned the sale of drugs for the disease in the public market and arrangements have been made to dispense medicines directly from the hospital to needy patients only.

Six times more cases in Gujarat than other states

The epidemic is spreading to northern Indian states including Rajasthan, Delhi, Madhya Pradesh, Haryana and Maharashtra. In Rajasthan, about 200 cases have been reported, but the disease has been declared an epidemic, compared to six times in Gujarat. The disease has not yet been declared an epidemic, but health sources say the government is considering it. . The decision can be taken after serious discussions with the task force of doctors and senior officials of the health department.

Mukarmacosis cases also increased in Bhopal as well as Haryana

Along with Gujarat and Rajasthan, cases of Mukarmacosis are also increasing in Bhopal and Haryana. Haryana currently has 177 cases while Bhopal has 239 cases in 23 days while 129 patients have undergone surgery. Mukarmacosis has killed 10 people in Bhopal. In Bhopal, Bhaskar's team contacted doctors and administrators of private hospitals directly treating these patients and sought information, which found 239 patients.

The cost of injection of mucomacosis is Rs. 4792 to Rs. 5788

Medical Education Minister Vishwas Sarang said that if these patients were identified in a timely manner, all government medical colleges in the state would conduct Mucormacosis test for covid positive patients and negative patients. The campaign will start on May 20. The government has announced the cost of injecting amphotericin B for mucomacosis at Rs. 4792 to 5788. These injections will be purchased from three companies.
